Adipose-derived stem cell therapy uses regenerative cells collected from a patient's own fat tissue. It is one of the treatment approaches explored in regenerative medicine for orthopedic conditions, joint pain, and other medical applications.
Since treatment methods and physician experience can vary between clinics, comparing providers is an important part of the research process. My Stem Cell Guide helps you compare clinics offering adipose-derived stem cell therapy by treatment options, location, pricing (where available), and verified patient reviews.
Fat tissue is one of the richest accessible sources of mesenchymal stem cells in the adult body. By some estimates, a given volume of fat tissue yields hundreds of times more stem cells than the same volume of bone marrow, which is the other common collection site. That is the main reason adipose-derived therapy has become the default starting point at many clinics: fewer cells need to be harvested to reach a clinically useful dose, and the collection procedure, a small-volume liposuction, is generally less uncomfortable than a bone marrow draw. Because the cells come from the patient's own body it is an autologous therapy, and when the harvested tissue is concentrated but not purified, the preparation is usually called stromal vascular fraction (SVF).
You may also see "adipose-derived stem cell drip" mentioned. That refers to intravenous administration rather than direct joint injection, and it is typically used for systemic or inflammatory conditions rather than a single joint problem. It is a different use case from the hip and knee joint pain injections most people researching this site are looking into, so if a clinic recommends an IV drip for a localized joint issue, ask specifically why, since direct injection is the more established approach for that kind of problem. Put the same question to every provider you compare.
