Investigational autologous bone marrow cell therapy for long COVID and post-viral illness, alongside interventional orthopedics
Boulder Biologics opened in 2018 on the Boulder Community Health Foothills campus and spends most of its week on non-operative interventional orthopedics: bone marrow aspirate concentrate, microfragmented fat, PRP and its variants, prolotherapy, hydrodissection. The long COVID program grew out of that same autologous approach. The protocol is bone marrow drawn from the patient's own posterior superior iliac spine under local anesthetic, filtered on site with minimal processing, and given back during the same visit. It goes in by IV, and for selected cases by intranasal atomization. Follow-up is at six and twelve weeks. To be a candidate you need symptoms that have lasted at least three months, a documented infection, and other explanations ruled out. What separates this clinic from most of the market is how it talks about evidence. Its long COVID page opens by stating that no stem cell or cellular therapy has been approved by the FDA for long COVID or post-COVID conditions. It says outright that it does not use donor-derived or culture-expanded cells sold as stem cell injections, only your own, minimally manipulated. On PRP it says effectiveness is variable and the evidence is strongest for knee osteoarthritis, tennis elbow, and rotator cuff tendinopathy. It also turns people away: advanced, diffuse arthritis typically does not respond, and those patients get referred elsewhere. The first visit is a 45 to 60 minute consultation with the physician, and the clinic's own line is that you leave with a plan rather than a sales pitch. Jason Glowney founded the practice. He trained in internal medicine, holds a sports medicine certificate of added qualification from a University of Colorado fellowship, and practiced at the Boulder Center for Sports Medicine and CU Sports Medicine before going out on his own. In 2025 he started the Apeiron Research Center, a nonprofit running IRB-approved investigator-led trials in cellular therapy.

Pricing depends on the joint, the number of sites, and the formulation, and is given at the consultation. Most plans classify autologous biologic procedures as investigational and do not cover them, so everything is self-pay. HSA and FSA funds usually work and the clinic provides itemized documentation for them. Payment plans at 0% APR are available.
Pricing is indicative and set by each clinic. Confirm the final cost directly before treatment.

Experience
Dr. Glowney, Ryan, and Dawn have made every visit to Boulder Biologics superior to any other doctor's office. The team is so knowledgeable, caring, and thorough with all aspects of your visit. They are completely honest, instead of giving you false expectations. I have never experienced an entire team caring for their patients to this degree. The client education is top notch!
Experience
Dr. Rudolf is excellent. She listens well, is extremely thoughtful and detail focused in developing her treatment plans, and thorough in applying treatment.
Experience
I went out to this clinic for a long covid headache and GI issues. They treated me very well and professionally but unfortunately I didn't get any benefits nor will I feel like many long haulers will from their painful and expensive procedure. I know two people who did this as well and it didn't help at all with their pain. I wouldn't recommend this or any stem cell treatment as a long covid solution.

4.8out of 5 on Google from 32 ratings
Google's own topic tally across 32 reviews is led by professional staff, with PRP the most discussed treatment, ahead of stem cell treatment, hydrodissection and ultrasound. Reviewers also mention chronic issues, thorough diagnosis, an empathetic doctor and scheduling. No aggregator review text was retrievable, so this rests on that tally.

Reddit has no discussion of this clinic. Repeated searches on the clinic name, the name plus review, and Boulder area stem cell terms returned only unrelated general threads, so there is no patient feedback here to draw on either way.
