About North Florida Stem Cells

North Florida Stem Cells is a one-physician practice at 421 Kingsley Avenue in Orange Park, Florida, a Clay County town just south of Jacksonville. Eric Weiss, MD, FACS runs it. He is board-certified in plastic and reconstructive surgery, took his MD at Duke, trained in general surgery at UC San Francisco and UC Davis and in plastic surgery at the University of Miami, and served as chief of plastic surgery at Naval Hospital Jacksonville before leaving the Navy as a commander. The practice was registered in Florida in 2018. Autism is the reason the clinic exists. Dr. Weiss's youngest son, Marston, is on the autism spectrum and had several rounds of umbilical cord blood before his father began offering the same treatment to other families. The clinic treats autism as a neuroinflammatory condition and points to the Duke University cord blood trials as its evidence base. It is unusually blunt about the numbers it quotes, saying roughly 65 to 70 percent of children show measurable improvement and about 30 percent do not, and that the reason for the difference is not yet understood. Everything used here is donor material. Whole umbilical cord blood and cord tissue arrive frozen from a screened donor lab, are thawed in the office and infused within minutes, and Dr. Weiss deliberately avoids lab-expanded cells. The usual route is a 30 to 45 minute IV infusion, with sedation offered at no extra charge to children who struggle with the needle, and a direct joint injection is an option for arthritis. Beyond autism the practice lists arthritis, anti-aging, traumatic brain injury, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis and stroke. None of these uses are FDA-approved, and Florida law requires the clinic to say so to every patient. There is no price list. Dosing is worked out per vial after a consultation.

Google reviews

4.8out of 5 on Google from 59 ratings

A small listing with a consistently high score. Most reviewers are parents of autistic children, several of whom flew in from other states or from abroad, and they describe gains in speech, eye contact and everyday behaviour over one or two rounds. Orthopedic patients make up the rest. Dr. Weiss is named again and again, usually for answering messages himself after the visit.
