Insurance, financing and payment

Insurance

Every item above sits on the hospital's non covered list, which is precisely the set of services Korean National Health Insurance does not pay for, so they are out of pocket in Korea. The bone marrow concentrate knee injection is flagged as temporary non covered, a status that can change, so confirm it still applies on the day. Korean residents with private indemnity cover sometimes claim part of these back, but that is a matter for your own policy. Overseas patients should assume their home insurer, HSA or FSA will not cover elective treatment abroad unless they have written confirmation in advance.

Financing

Nanoori publishes no payment plan, deposit schedule or financing partner. Bookimed, which lists the hospital, states that no payment is taken at booking and that you are charged directly at the clinic on arrival, and it also marks the hospital as not accepting new requests through that platform. On the hospital's own published non covered fee list, its regenerative items run from 250,000 KRW for a platelet rich plasma injection for plantar fasciitis to 6,000,000 KRW for the modified microfracture procedure using an allogeneic hyaline cartilage biomaterial, with the bone marrow concentrate knee injection at 2,800,000 KRW. Those are single session rates for the procedure and its materials, and imaging, drugs, anaesthesia and any inpatient stay are billed on top.

Does Nanoori publish a stem cell price?

Not under that name. The nearest item on the filing is the intra articular bone marrow aspirate concentrate injection for knee osteoarthritis at 2,800,000 KRW, materials included. Nothing on the list is described as cultured or expanded cells, and there is no cord blood or adipose item, so if a coordinator offers you something outside that list, ask which line of the non covered filing it is billed under.

Why does an agency quote 20,000 US dollars when the hospital files 2,800,000 KRW?

Because they are not the same product. The hospital's figure is a single declared procedure rate under Korean fee disclosure rules. The 20,000 US dollar figure comes from Bookimed's listing for the hospital and behaves like a travel package number, which can bundle imaging, multiple sessions, admission and the agency's own margin. Get the agency to itemise it against the hospital's filing before you accept it.

Are the published prices what an overseas patient actually pays?

Treat them as the starting point rather than the invoice. The filing is a legal disclosure of single item rates at the Gangnam branch, and a real course of treatment usually adds imaging, drugs and sometimes repeat sessions. The English international healthcare centre site carries no prices at all, so ask for a written itemised quote in Korean won and ask what would make it change.
